Quickstart Cold Brew Tea Instructions

For this simple cold brew style you’ll need:

  • French press (recommended) OR glass pitcher/glass bottle/jar + strainer.

  • Tea leaves

  • Room-temp water

  1. Combine appropriate amount of tea leaves and room temperature water (a strong brew will be good if you want to add ice cubes). About 2 tablespoons of leaves to a quart of water (32 oz.) or the standard suggested amount from the tea company.

  2. Place it in the fridge overnight (6-10hrs).

  3. Take it out and strain if necessary, and VOILÁ—you have cold brew tea. Adjust strength by varying brew time in the fridge. Adding ice will dilute the tea as well.

Consume within a 1-3 days. Enjoy!

*Try this if you’re feeling extra ;) Garnish your teas with a slice of lemon, cucumber or a sprig of mint. Leaving the tea as is works beautifully as well.

My Pick for Iced Tea Pot

If you have a French press at home that you use for coffee, it works well with cold brew tea. The only drawback is that the coffee flavor might leak into your tea. If that’s the case, make sure you wash it well.

The reason I suggest the this Simple Brew Teapot style for your cold brew tea pot options is due to its versatility. You can brew hot liquids in it too. As a minimalist, I try to avoid getting specialized items because that contributes to clutter and impacted storage space. I’d rather have a teapot I can use all year round and not just for the hot summer months.
